Types of Classes
Hatha Yoga
Classes are slower, allowing you to focus on your form, connecting to your body, breath, and mindfulness. Ideal for people who are starting a yoga practice, as it introduces you to some of the terminology and the pose names while improving your strength and flexibility. This style of yoga, because it is slower, can sometimes be a bit more gentle, allowing you to feel how certain movements feel within your body. Through this, you are able to be mindful of your personal goals and injuries. Longer holds of each posture also helps to build strength in addition to improving your flexibility.
Vinyasa Yoga
This style of yoga tends to be characterised by more of a flowing sequence, where postures are not held for as long. The studio classes tend to be easier to follow if you have practiced yoga before. Due to the faster pace, Vinyasa classes are ideal for building up cardiovascular fitness as well as full body strength, as you move from one pose into the next.
Pilates
Pilates classes help develop balance, strength, flexibility and stability by working on both intrinsic muscle stabilizers as well as global mover muscles. Classes tend to involve repetitions and sometimes sets of exercises with specific foci, such as core strength, postural correction, lower body strengthening, etc. Ideal for people wanting to get into a foundation of exercise who might have a history of injuries that need special considerations.
Bootcamp
This strength and cardio focused group class is geared to waking you up in the morning and helping you to tackle your fitness goals. Early morning studio classes include a combination of bodyweight strength exercises such as squats, lunges, and push ups, and weighted exercises such as bicep curls, tricep extensions, and lateral raises.
